47 years of dedication
SOUTH LEVERTON PARISH COUNCIL
TRIBUTE TO SHEILA RICKARDS
On behalf of her colleagues on the parish council and indeed all residents of South
Leverton it is our pleasure to wish Sheila a long and happy retirement from her
duties as a councillor. Sheila has given a dedicated continuous service to the council
for the last 47 years including being chair for a period of time. Sheila has a truly
remarkable record as a public servant.
It is a fitting tribute to reflect that everyone in the village knows and values Sheila’s
contribution to the many activities she has been involved in over the years, not just
as a councillor, but also as a school governor, school secretary, a member of the WI,
an active member of the church congregation and the many voluntary associated
duties. One particular passion for Sheila was to take a leading role in the restoration
and maintenance of the church clock, which is something all village residents
appreciate and notice on a daily basis. In addition to all of these activities Sheila still
found time to take part in Village Harmony, providing entertainment and raising
money for charity.
Sheila is one of those rare persons that has always put the interest of others before
herself, and there is no doubt she will continue to do so as a most helpful and
friendly member of our community.
Thankyou Sheila, from all recent colleagues who have had the privilege of serving on
the parish council with you including Gerry Wareham, Gill Taylor, Gordon Muir,
Becky Loates, Jean Cawthorne, Sara Stilliard, Mark Darlow, Keith Jones
